1st Donny 1:1 is actually a quote taken from Aesop's Fables, rather than the Bible.

Actually, what the Bible teaches is that God's help comes in the context of our own total IN-abilities. Salvation came when "we were without strength, in due time Christ died for" us. (Rom 5:6) David's confidence in battle was not his own skill and might, but rather, "He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me; for they were too strong for me." (Ps 18:17)

When we find ourselves at the end of ourselves with nowhere left to turn but up, that is where Christ will meet us. God readily helps those who recognize that without Him, they are nothing.

God helps those who help themselves? Only in Aesop's Fables.

Donny, are you gonna also give up your filthy, vile, Godless Republicanism?
I mean, you can't continue to support Republican child molesters and their enablers, right?
Best of luck to you and I sincerely hope you continue to move out of the darkness and into the light.

-----guyderrick

I have been praying for you. I just happened to read your story and my heart with the prompting of the Holy Spirit has been praying for you and for your family.

If you take any new pictures I would love to see your work. Post it on your blog (which I will check out from time to time). Your story is touching and I praise God for it. Thank you for continuing to share it in this blog. God Bless brother.

1st Donny 1:1... lol, as funny as it is, it's such a true statement. Even though God provided the land of honey (blessing), and even though there are giants (enemies) in the land, we have to go and TAKE it for ourselves. Read the book of Joshua you might like it.

I get your dilemma. When my wife and I had both lost our jobs, there was a job opening for a paid audio technician at my church's parent church. Basically, I would've had a full-time job working at a church and taking care of any audio needs, which is right in my wheelhouse. Problem was, I'd have to leave my church. And I asked my pastor about it. He said, "You have to make the decision you think is right. There isn't necessarily a right or wrong here. What I will tell you is that if you forego something because you think it will honor God, after praying about it for awhile, that God will honor your decision and will honor you for it. Maybe not now or even while you're here, but you will be honored for it." I didn't take the job, which meant another few months of unemployment. But we never missed a bill payment during that nine months of unemployment and both my wife and I have gone to jobs that feel like we're supposed to be there. God DID honor me because of the decision I made to honor him first.
I dunno what answers will come for you, but I urge you to not make a decision because you're feeling the "I need a job" pressure. God knows what you need and he'll supply it over and above what you could expect. Look to honor him first and it'll help you a lot in your choices.
That's my three cents. Not a day goes by where I'm not thinking about you and praying for you.

I'm happy to see that God is working in your life, Donny, and that you recognized His provisions. Many of my friends have you in our prayers these days.
