Porn Stories: The Prelude

I believe in all of the freedoms granted to those who live in this great country. I believe those freedoms extend to everyone, not just those with whom I agree. That being the case, I oppose legislating porn out of existence. That is not the right route to follow. Each time a company contacts me for an interview or to ask my opinions on porn, one of the first things I let them know is that I am against taking away the rights of pornographers.

I feel education is a better answer. We’re not “in a battle” with pornographers, we’re in a battle with ourselves. Those who wish to escape from some sort of attraction or addiction to pornography really need to look inwardly and stop blaming their problem on everyone else. Our problems and addictions will never be conquered if all we do is take away the temptations. I’d rather create a cure, not just treat the symptoms.

Much of the appeal of porn can be taken away be removing the mystery of porn. And thats what I intend to do with my life: educate others. My goal is to share some of the stories of porn production from my past, and in so doing I want to show men and women that the reality of pornography is not nearly as attractive as it’s made out to be. Pornography is not glamorous. The fantasy portrayed on camera doesn’t exist. There is an ugly human cost that is paid to bring this product to market.

In thinking of the best game plan to follow, my biggest problem is deciding how graphic to get with my writings. Many Christians seem to want to focus on pretty pictures. Too much muck and mire bothers them. But to show the true realities of life, sometimes the muck and mire needs to be shown. I’m concerned with the fact that, while most of my readers are adults, I probably have a few who are under the age of 18. In this age of the internet they’ve probably seen it all anyway, but it is still of concern to me.

Despite my concerns, in the very near future I will start a series of stories on the realities of pornography. It may turn your stomach. In fact, I hope it does. Showing the truth behind the myth just might help those of you who wish to lose your attraction to porn. In the very least, it will further open your eyes and make you realize exactly what you support by consuming this product.

In the meantime, please give your opinions as to what my limits should be, either in comments here or via private email. My email address is all over this blog. I’ll seriously consider all feedback.

Hey! I’ve left comments in the past, and I feel compelled to comment on this post. I myself feel comfortable with hearing some of the not so pretty stories that you have to share, then again, I am an adult.Since I stumbled on your blog in September, I never was much into porn, but would watch it occasionally with my boyfriend. I have myself done away with porn completely since then. Some of the things you’ve said have really made me realize that porn.. is just not the way the go. As I said, since then I’ve been following along, and I find inspiration in your posts, I’ve also past on the link to your website to two of my younger sistersso that they can see and understand that the world isn’t all pretty and that certainly goes for porn. I don’t know if they’ve actually browsed your blog, but they are 17 and 19, and I think that some of the more graphic things that you have seen, might not be suitable to some people, like them, for multiple reasons. Maybe you could put a warning ahead of such posts? The world needs to read what you’ve got to say, the good, the bad and the ugly, but keep in mind there are some minds out there that might not be able to handle all that you’ve got to share. Like you said yourself, our minds are being polluted at a young age anyway, but for some, they might not be able to understand, and comprehend all of it.-A

I would say go ahead and describe how great the cost comes at producing porn. This would help dispell the myth that pornography is glamorous. People and groups like Shelley Lubben, xxxchurch, and yourself are going against porn and the crave for it by showing how high the cost comes to produce it. I think maybe a disclaimer before such posts would help warn people.Danhttp://www.myspace.com/dansface

Pray about what you think should go up man. I know it sounds like a cliche word of advise, but if you want God to glorify what you put up, seek his council. Cliches are around for a reason, they are consistently true, so pray about it man. Look forward to reading what you have to say.God Bless

I’m not quite clear on how graphic you are intending to get, but I am not looking forward to this series. Porn has a near stranglehold on my life currently, and I don’t need any more information that would fuel my fantasies. I would stop reading if this material hit your main blog page. I am happy that you are developing spiritually, and that you have found more ways to use your gifts and experiences, but as for me, I can’t have any part of this project.I hope you will consider making a secondary blog of some other means to separate it from your other stuff.

Something to think about:Whenever you post those stories, rather than just a disclaimer make it a continuation so that you have to click on the link (ex. Click here to read more or Click here to read below the fold, etc) in order to read the actual graphic stuff that you want to educate with. That way the post is on the main page, but the graphic parts of the post aren’t and only the people who choose to read them will read them.Did that make sense at all?

I share your concerns, Donny, but I look forward to what you have to say. I have tried to fictionalise my experiences as a consumer of porn, and the road it has started to lead me down, but it always started to get a bit sleazy. I pray you don’t have the same problem – I think your stories need to be told.

I know what type of stories that you are referring to, the (lens cleaner) tissue story for example. But I still think it’s a bad idea. I’m surprised to hear this coming from ‘me’ instead of half of your readers.I realize that it may be fun to talk about the old times of shooting porn, but I don’t think you are in the right audience to do so any longer. I still vote “NO” because it is playing with fire. Oh, and what is gross to you and me could very well stimulate the fantasies of others. Specially those that haven’t shot or been involved in the porn business.Honestly I think it’s a bad idea. There are probably a few people that are thinking the same thing, but they don’t want to come out and say it.-John

John does bring up a good point. What is intended for good might actually be bad for some.I do not believe it is a bad idea for the main reason that its never been done. 99% of people today haven’t been behind the camera or around when its turned off. Not only that but porn is viewed as so glamorous and it probably would stir the waters a little to hear from the real side of things. Still I do agree that there does need to be some for of censorship. I’m in 100% agreement with you Donny. This needs to be done. But, now the question is how, when, and where?Ron

I can’t speak for everybody else here but my feeling are this:Porn is a bad BAD thing. It is the spawn of the devil and should not be openly discussed, in detail, whether privately or in a public forum. :) Porn is Satan’s word on camera. Do you really want to spread the word of Satan? In the meantime….click on my name for something more enlightening.

Donny,I believe your idea is worthwhile. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance regarding format and content. I am certain that what you have to say will be very efficacious and provide a good balance of education and de-glamorization to those who might otherwise harbor enthusiasm for pornography production.- David

I think you should say the things you need to say in order to tell the stories that you want tell. If you censor yourself, you end up saying things like “If you knew what I knew, you’d believe as I believe”, and that isn’t credible. And no matter how graphic it gets, it won’t be pornographic. I don’t think you need to worry about offending or corrupting anyone.

Donny:Hey man. As you know, I run the site Teens Against Pornography. Most people assume I would be 100% in favor of legalizing censorship of porn for adults. They’d be dead wrong. It doesn’t take much grey matter between the ear-holes to realize that if I value free speech for myself, and I also value not being a hypocrite, then I am obligated to value the free speech of others. In fact, I am of the opinion that certain parts of the bible, which I fancy the freedom to be published and read, could easily be considered erotica. It’s not to me of course, but I’m biased.I think your idea to tell “war stories” is phenomenal. I think you should go for it, and seek counsel from published authors or editors. This is exactly the kind of project that has the potential to help change lives. John makes a great point about how others may be turned on by your stories. But I think his point should be used to fuel your caution, not extinguish the idea altogether.I also run a blog called Tales of the Sexually Broken. It is almost completely uncensored. Here are a few of the post titles:The only effective pain reliever I have found so far is pornNot every man masterbates till his penis is bleeding I am having a hard time being intimate with a real personHe stares at women in public and rubs himself on meIf I want to get turned on I just go to church for my fixI just knew that it had a anesthetizing affect on my painI don’t think you should hold back Donny. Sure, be conscientious about how you word things. Keep body part descriptions as clinical as possible. Have the work reviewed by people you trust to be honest (like John for example). But please at least draft up a few. Even if they do not get published here or anywhere.I have seen Shelley Lubben’s story alone spark an authentic and deep rooted desire to change in many self-professed sex addicts. Your experiences could very well address the same need.If I were you I’d err on the side of truth. It’s difficult to go wrong there. The Internet contains a gross imbalance of fantasy over truth in the area of pornography and the porn industry right now. I for one wouldn’t mind seeing the pendulum swing back towards the center, even if it’s only a small bit.

I’m torn….do we want to think about how we used to (continue) revel in pornography no matter how devilish you describe it. In my case, when I used to cheat on my ex-wife, I was happy about it and even thought it was justified. To relive it and so flippantly say “that was then” makes me think that friend of yours might be right for a change….but then again, it could be educational to some of those people who come on here to bash on you.
