Hey Donny,

I just watched the videos in this post. It is great that you and Craig are out there engaging in an educated discussion on this topic. I've linked up this page on my site. I d want others to see it. I am a campus minister @ Drexel University. I deal heavily in male accountability groups. I'm encouraged when people are working toward the same goals. Overall I think the discussion was excellent but I do want to make a couple comments.

For the longest time Porn has been cool because it was counterculture but now it is so mainstream that it is one of the biggest industries out there. It is the "Man" and the same students that would get mad at corporate greed and exploitation should get mad at those same injustices in the porn industry. How much did you make off of your "models" compared to how much did they make? Porn is no longer the underdog it is big business. It is Wal-mart.

You and Craig are now more counter-culture than Ron Jeremy. More people respect Ron at face value than Craig. I think this is something we can play up. The fact Ron always make Craig go first is a major statement in our culture. Porn is the norm. Position your self as the voice of those not being heard. Even if the majority of porn stars are "happy" (which is extremely debatable) you are the voice for those. You are the "whistle blower." The life in the porn industry is not as sunshiny as the "man" has sold us. There is a dark underside. There is a cover-up. People are getting hurt. Who cares if it is just a few. Monique sounded extremely heartless when she didn't care about the suffering of others in her line of work.

I would also speak directly to the conscience of the audience. You may not be able to change those who have convinced themselves that porn is okay. Make sure you speak to those in the audience who are struggling. Let them know that it is worth fighting. Let them know that there is help available. Position yourself as not trying to change society but as a voice for the un-heard minority that are not happy with the porn in their lives. Give them resources and hope. I don't think it is a minority but present it that way. I would challenge people to stop for a period of time. That's the only way they know if they are addicted or not or even if an addiction is possible.

Finally, you guys need to beef up your information. Get your statistics good and defend them. Craig stuff about the use of his site and his software was good. What about Pamela Paul's "Pornified" stuff for Newsweek and her book? You don't have to prove that the majority of Porn-stars have ill effects you just have to demonstrate that there is a significant group who do. You don't have to prove that most porn-users want to but can't quit just that a significant number do and you are speaking for them.

Keep speaking for us.

Donny,

I wasn't planning on leaving anything. I felt lazy, quite frankly.

But I felt i needed to say something about the debate on nightline(i watched every single link and even your 'intro of civic duty' warning us of the possible explicit terms uttered in the video).

You and Craig did not look nervous at all. You were pretty confident when delivering your points. I think this crucial. 'be as innocent as doves and as wise as serpents'.

I think one of your strong points is the way you talk with command respect yet is not arrogant(You mentioned this in your one of your old podcasts that through years of recruiting girls you've finally got the right 'formula'.). There are christians out there who are gentle and meek, and i love them for that.

But i also believe that there should be christians like you who can talk in a confident tone (esp when your audience are 80% men) yet is bounded by love. People feel the love even if it is not uttered (if i may add, your closing argument was good). We really do.

And i want to add, your job is not to change us, your job is catch the darn fish and let Jesus do the 'cleaning' . So when you share your viewpoints and share your heart w/ what happened to you i really believe the Holy spirit will be opening some hearts.

I think in debates like these you can't be a pushover, esp when your up 'against' ron jeremy. Of course, he'll be as smart as heck, charismatic and funny. What's not to love with the guy?!

But hear this Donny, and please tell this to Craig. People sense the love with what your doing and that's the 'secret sauce' whether you're in Porn and Pancakes or at yale. Love pierces through. And when we do that, people see and feel Jesus one way or another. That's why i support your ministry, your showing through the real founder of our belief, and boy is HE attractive. " be as innocent as doves and as wise as serpents".

Donny seemed to have the highlight of the broadcast...Martin Bashir said something like, (paraphrase) "The room REALLY came to a standstill when Donny Pauling talked about the realities of porn production" , then cut to Donny telling the audience of the realities of the porn. (atleast that's how I remember it...Donny may be able to be a bit more accurate).

Way to go Donny!

(s)he said craig is hot...HAHA

i love it : )

saw nightline on tv..thought 'eh'...they would have done better to leave much of the voice over out and actually let the debaters do the talking but i guess it's martin's show so he has the right to talk in excess. i have yet to watch it online but will do so in the next few days...
