I stepped out for about an hour to run a few errands and this is what I returned to…

As I was down on hands and knees picking up the mess, Mister Moose offered his assistance… BY SITTING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF WHATEVER AREA I TRIED TO CLEAN UP! I couldn’t help but laugh. They are just too cute, and such a joy.

Even when they’re bad.

Dogs are very loyal. I love my Mastiff pup. He’s very cuddly and loves sleeping with his head on my lap.

I’m very proud of my country today. I have high hopes. I think the team our President has put together is going to fight hard and has a lot to prove. Because of that, I think he and they will do their best, and that’s all we can really ask.

I’ve met my friend Carrie in person one time, but talked to her for hours online. I still consider her my friend. She’s on a mission to save animals and homosexual marriage rights, and doesn’t believe in God at the moment, so we definitely don’t see eye to eye, but I know she’s a good person and think she’s beautiful. She makes life more interesting without even trying. Pray for her as she works her way through heartbreak.

Mastiff puppies fart a lot. It’s not pleasant.

Rick Warren prayed in front of the entire world earlier today. I was impressed at how well he stood up for his convictions. Good job, Pastor Warren!

I think denominations argue too much over petty things. My friend Drew will argue about random nothingness until he’s blue in the face. So will my friend Chris. How spoiled we are to live in a country where we can argue over whose church is closer to what Jesus had in mind.

My ex-wife is amazing. My son says she’s the best person in the world. I have to agree with him.

For the last week my life has consisted of cleaning up after a mastiff puppy, taking a mastiff puppy outside to potty at 2 am, awakening at 6 am to feed a mastiff puppy, having my toes bitten repeatedly by a mastiff puppy, reading all about what’s best for a mastiff puppy…

You get the picture: I’ve been living la vida Mastiff!

I’ve discovered that this particular Mastiff enjoys peeing on floors, even though he makes it clear that he knows he should go outside to do so. He indicates this knowledge by running toward the dog door when I yell “No Moose!” as I see him squat.

Fortunately he’s decided to stop pooping on the carpet.

Although he does seem to enjoy laying in his poop outside, right after he goes, every once in awhile.

And I get the pleasure of washing him off when I bring him back inside.

And it turns my stomach to do so.

But I love, love, love this puppy. He’s a lot of fun.

Today was his first trip to the vet. He was given his first shot and wormed. This puppy, who just turned 7 weeks old as of yesterday, weighed in at 13.6 lbs. In the last two days he’s gained 3 lbs. He now weighs the same as my mother’s 6 year old Bichon Frisé.

I take the responsibility of having a dog very seriously. He’ll have regular check ups, be neutered when he reaches the appropriate age for such, be electronically chipped… all of that. I also want to feed him the best food possible. I asked the vet, “If this was your dog, what would you feed him?” He recommended Blue Buffalo for large breed puppies.  The vet listed off the reasons for his recommendation, but I’ll spare you the details.  Suffice it to say that over the next 4-5 days, the Senator will have his food gradually changed from IAMS to Blue Buffalo.
